Kabimba Seeks Charms As the chase for the Patriotic Front (PF) presidency heightens, sources have confirmed that estranged Wyntnter Kabimba was in Luapula to consult witchdoctors a fortnight ago. And local people in Shibuyunji, Kabimba’s indigenous place have said adopting the former PF secretary general would be the PF’s biggest tragedy because he is arrogant and unsellable politician. According to impeccable sources, Kabimba was in Luapula to seek charms in his bid to take the top leadership of the PF. In Zambia, some people believe in traditional magic to win certain successes. According to the sources, Wynter Kabimba had been going round the country to consolidate his comeback to the PF as party president. The PF insiders said Kabimba had created structures within the ruling party and it is these same structures that he plans to re-organise to consolidate his ascendance to the presidency. Recently, late Michael Sata sacked Kabimba as party secretary general and minister of Justice, but Kabimba is making moves to come back to the party and possibly take over as president. “Mr Wynter Kabimba was here (Luapula) where he consulted witchdoctors. He also had meetings with PF members. These meetings were very clandestine because Kabimba came to meet some district commissioners who were his own people since he is the one who recommended their appointment by president Sata,” the source said. According to the source, Kabimba seemed determined to get back into the PF and takeover as party president and party members must expect a much sustained battle for the party’s top job. There have been reports that Wynter Kabimba was plotting a comeback to the PF and he was making secret campaigns within the PF. Recent reports who that Kabimba was in Kasama, Kabwe and Chipata. Meanwhile, residents of Shibuyunji have wanred the PF not adopt Kabimba as the party’s presidential candidate. Joshua Matafwali said Kabimba was not popular in his homeland because of his arrogance and lack of respect for other people. He said Kabimba could not win an election in Shibuyunji and it would be a tragedy for the PF to expect Kabimba to win a national election when he was rejected in his own homeland. “Mr Kabimba has built a very good road going to his farm. This road branches away from the main road, which is in a very bad state. This is not the kind of leader that the people want because he has already shown his greediness and lack of concern for other people. Mr Kabimba has refued to stay and look after his own mother and father here. This is not the kind of leader that the people want,” the source said. Matafwali said Zambia must realize that the late Michael Sata dropped Kabimba from the top PF leadership because it was apparent Kabimba was a devisive figure among party members.
