Kalidasa for the 21st Century Reader - saw this in a book store. A sample page that gives an idea about the style of translation. It is an admirable effort to introduce the great Kavi to todays generation. As a general observation, I keep seeing newer Kalidasa translations every 5-6 years.. and many other Sanskrit classics too, books that belong to both religious and non religious categories. With all the loud exhortations of Tamil Patru to the point of abusing other languages, Sanskrit in particular, I have almost *never* seen any effort to bring Tamil classics to younger generation, neither through English, nor through Tamil. Meanwhile, enjoy this new Kalidasa version, published in 2014 by Aleph publishing, a unit of Rupa.
