Kalkaska Winterfest, Jan. 17 and 18. I know several of you are just getting started, BUT there is no reason not to try to either go to a race, or participate in one! I have not been to this one, but spoke with the organizers this morning, and there will be a class category called Sport, which is for novice mushers or recreational mushers. I do not know how many classes will have that category, but even if they do not offer the Sport category, you should go anyway! You are all coming along so well, and this would be a fantastic opportunity, even if youve got just one dog. They are offering a one dog short sprint (100 yards I think) a two dog, three dog, four, six and an 8-10 dog class. And even if you just make the trek to watch, what you will learn is awesome. The Stormhawk gang and I will be going, and there are opportunities to handle and help out other mushers too. I have two extra sleds, and can transport one extra along with the one I use, so if you dont have a sled, and want to go - this is your chance! kalkaskawinterfest.org
