Karen at Burning Man 2005-2009 Like many of you, I was recruited to the playa by Karen. I listened to her and Aeron evangelize on behalf of Burning Man for several years before finally joining in on the fun in 2005. When I first landed, she informed me graciously that my cargo shorts and t-shirt would not suffice, and proceeded to dress me properly, and then keep me appropriately costumed for the rest of the week. She also fed me, supplied me with cocktails, and made sure that I (and everyone else) stayed properly hydrated. Burning Man was a place that made her happy, and it was a place where she was at her best: as a friend, a cook, a fashionista, a hostess, and a lover of life. She didnt just go and indulge in it, she was the heart and soul of her community. Here are a few pics of her in that place at that time.
