Kashmiri CRPF jawan dies in Naxal attack Pattan, Dec 2, CNS: Among the 14 personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) who were killed in a Naxal ambush in Chhattisgarhs Sukma district on Monday, one jawan hails from North Kashmir’s Pattan area of Baramulla district. Muhammad Shafi Bhat son of Mehrajuddin Bhat resident of Buran Pattan according to his family had joined CRPF ranks six years ago and since then he performed his duties at different parts of India. “We were informed by police officials that Muhammad Shafi has also been one of the victims of Naxal violence,” the father of slain Kashmiri CRPF jawan told CNS. Pertinently, Maoists on Monday unleashed a major attack killing 14 CRPF personnel, including two officers, and injuring 12 others. The attack took place when CRPF personnel were returning to their camp. The family members of the slain Kashmiri Jawan said that Muhammad Shafi is survived by his two children, wife and age-old parents. Scores of people living in their neighborhood visited at the residence of Mehrajuddin Bhat and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family. (CNS)
