Kate MccGwire[Feather Sculptures] 영국에서 활동중인 조각가 Kate MccGwire는 깃털을 소재로 묘한 조각 작품을 만들었습니다. 그녀가 만들어내는 작품들은 예상치 못한 형태 (꼬이고 휘어진 촉수와 날개모양의 혼합 생명체처럼 보이는) 를 띄고있음에도 정말 정확하게 만들어 졌습니다. 그녀의 최근 작업에 주로 사용된 것은 까치와 까마기의 깃털이라고 합니다. 그녀가 이러한 소재의 작품을 만들게 된 것은 그녀의 태생과도 연관이 있는데요, 영국 동부 지역에 강들과 호수가 만나는 노퍽브로즈에서 자란 그녀는 어렸을 때 부터 자연과 새들의 매력과 교감하며 자랐다고 합니다. 오늘도 그녀는 새로운 조각 작품을 위해서 조심스럽게 깃털을 수집한다고 합니다. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kate MccGwire[Feather Sculptures] British sculptor Kate MccGwire creates uncanny organic sculptures from layers of bird feathers. The objects she creates are so precisely assembled that they seem to form hybrid creatures with tentacles or limbs that twist and curve into unexpected forms. she mostly uses magpie and crow feathers for her latest work. MccGwire grew up on the Norfolk Broads, a network of rivers and lakes in eastern England where her connection with nature and fascination with birds was nurtured from an early age. Today the artist patiently collects pigeon and mallard feathers which are carefully washed and sorted in preparation for each new sculpture.
