Kathy “Shorty” Palmer, 64, of Blackfoot, passed away Monday, August 18, 2014, at the Bingham Memorial Hospital from causes due to cancer. Shorty was born May 6, 1950, in Boise, Idaho to Volna Colyd Olsen and Viola Ruth Terry Olsen, the third oldest of five children. She grew up in the Leslie and Mackay area. Shorty attended Mackay High School and graduated in 1967. After graduation she moved to Salt Lake City to attend the LDS business college. In 1968 Shorty moved to Blackfoot and has been a lived here ever since. Shorty was an extremely hard worker and has worked for many of the local farmers and potato warehouses in the community. Shorty was a friend to all in the community and everyone knew and loved her. She couldn’t go to Wal-Mart without running into fifty people to visit with. In November 2001 she met Warren Millward while working as a security guard for Basic American and have been companions ever since. She was an avid hunter and fisher. She loved to be outdoors and go camping and sit around the fire and chat with friends and family. She is survived by her children: Michael (Cat) Burke, of Oregon, Michelle (Jeff) Call, of Utah, R.V. (Tisha) Burke, of Fort Hall, Felicia (Troy) Steed, of Firth, Johna (Paul) Blaylock, of Blackfoot, Kenny (Mel) Millward, of Blackfoot, Robert Millward, of American Falls, Scott Millward, of Boise, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. A visitation for Shorty will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014, from 6:00-8:00p.m. at the Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave. A private family service will be held at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family at hawkerfuneralhome. Rest in peace Night Owl, your family will miss you deeply.
