Kayla Jones asked, I will be homeschooling our 7-year-old twin - TopicsExpress

Kayla Jones asked, I will be homeschooling our 7-year-old twin boys, who are at different academic levels and are totally different learners. One is very needy and needs much one-on-one time for learning. The other is more independent and can be shown something once or twice and get it. Our needy one was homeschooled this year, while his twin attended a private school. We used Saxon Math and All About Reading. We are bringing his twin home for this school year and I am worried about how I will homeschool two! I love Saxon Math, but it is very teacher/child dependent in the early grades. I am looking for a math curriculum that is more for the independent learner. We did samples of Life of Fred and he did not enjoy all the reading. I do not want something TV/DVD/computer-based (ex: Math-U-See). Is there anything else out there? What about A Beka? (If so, how does this compare to school levels? He is entering 2nd grade). Also, what do you suggest for reading? He is currently at a 3-4th grade reading level and needs help with spelling and handwriting more than reading. (We will use bookadventures-dot-com for the reading comprehension unless I can find something else). I just heard about workboxes and really like the idea, so any curriculum that would go well with those are a plus!
