Kayode Misses Esperance Deal Another dose of misfortune has come the way of misfiring Flying Eagles striker at this year’s African Youth Championship and FIFA U-20 World Cup, Olarewaju Kayode, as his hopes of becoming the next Nigerian player to star for Esperance of Tunisia have come unstuck. Information on offer from the lanky lad’s camp indicate that a release clause of five million Euros inserted into the new contract he was billed to sign in Tunis has stalled his expected transfer to the club that has a strong Nigerian tradition and once had ex-Super Eagles striker, Michael Eneramo as their skipper. The former ASEC Mimosas of Cote d’Ivoire forward had been banking on exploiting a pre-contract agreement he reportedly had with Esperance scouts on personal terms during the Youth Mundial in Turkey, only for Kayode and his agent to discover some shocking clauses in the formal contract. This now marks another downturn of fortunes for Kayode, who agreed to join Heartland of Owerri before the U-20 World Cup, has also played in Switzerland and has undergone trials in England and with Belarusian club Dinamo Minsk. Kayode and his agent Emeka Ezeala arrived Tunis to sign for the top Tunisian club, but MTNFootball has gathered that they were far from impressed with some of the clauses inserted in the proposed contract for the striker. “They have been shocked by some of the clauses in the contract and so may well now explore their options elsewhere most likely in Europe,” a top source familiar with the transaction informed MTNFootball.
