Keep to work on for Facebook post Christmas day. Christmas Eve - TopicsExpress

Keep to work on for Facebook post Christmas day. Christmas Eve a public health nurse who is one of my coworkers told me of her decision to get involved in gathering help for a client family. The family consists of husband, wife, and their 7 children. The father has seasonal work. In the winter he walks to find day labor. They didnt have enough food for dinner that evening or most other days. One of the children had asked for socks and shoes for Christmas. Each of the children hoped for a bicycle. The family had only two washcloths and two towels. The nurse was aware that the need was great and the optimal time to get Christmas help had passed. She considered giving them a couple of phone numbers of agencies to try to get help from. But then she stopped and thought about Abdul-Rahman’s belief in the power of one person. That recollection spurred her into action. She started calling agencies and churches and individuals she knew who might be able and willing to help. By the time she had finished, the family had bikes and food for a few days, including Christmas. They now have coats, socks and shoes. The father has insulated long underwear to keep warm as he goes out looking for work. All of this happened because she didn’t decide to “let someone else deal with it.” After this heartwarming story, she told of another mother and her 3 young children that was still needing help. The mother had been forced to leave her husband and flee her country because of domestic violence. She had found a job in the US, but had to quit work because she had no child care. This nurse had left a message for a local source of help for people in need and was doubtful that there would be time for this agency to help before Christmas. When yet another nurse heard this story, she was moved to give money to the one who knew the family so the children could get one Christmas gift apiece. The mother told the nurse what the children would like. The total sum needed for their gifts was the exact amount that had been given for their gifts! The children started a long chorus of “thank you” and the mother used her beautiful voice to sing praises there in their home as she would be doing again in the church service in a few hours. The serendipity of this occurrence gives me affirmation that The One was working through the words of our son, encouraging us to let our hearts and hands do His work. One person can make a difference!
