Keith, you must continue to tell Emmetts story until mans consciousness is risen, only then there will be justice for Emmett Till! ~ Mamie Till - Mobley (one week before she made her transition) ~ The Injustice Files ___________________________________________________________ On this day 59- Years ago, Emmett Louis Till was abducted from his great- uncles home tortured and murdered in Mississippi for one of the oldest taboos of the South, addressing (whistling) at a white woman in public. Two men, Roy Bryant and J.W. Milam were soon arrested but later acquitted in the court of law, by an all- white, all- male jury. Although Emmett suffered an horrific death, he did not die in vain. The murder of Emmett Till woke the Sleeping Giant of people from around the globe, which became the catalyst that sparked the American Civil Rights Movement. Because of Emmett Louis Till...I am! There would be no filmmaker Keith Beauchamp today, if it wasnt for the murder of Emmett Louis Till! I will forever be indebted to him and his family. 59 - years after the murder of Emmett Louis Till and 51- years after the March on Washington, I ask the question: Have we truly arrived? Are we living the dream that Dr. King and so many others wanted us to live? After a 9 - year odyssey working closely with the late Mamie Till-Mobley, our dream was realized on May 10, 2004, when the US Department of Justice reopened the nearly 50-year old murder case of Emmett Louis Till, citing my research and documentary, The Untold Story of Emmett Louis Till as the reason and starting point for their investigation. Words cannot express the life-changing experience! Today, I hope that you will take a moment to remember Emmett Louis Till and his mother the late Mamie Till-Mobley and truly understand the indelible impact this case continues to have on our lives.
