I have been doing applique initials and I cant figure out whats the best backing to use so not to cause holes around the stitch or look like they are gonna have some tearing . Im doing sticky back first then I tried a few layers of tearaway and water soluble on top and then trying sticky and cutaway . They are holding up but I dont care for the look around the edges like its dug in . Thanks in advance for any advice FSF says I always use polymesh on knit fabrics (never use tearaway) plus a ballpoint needle. If you see places around the design it could be your needle is dull. Use a new ballpoint needle.
