Kents ethereal shot of cherry blossoms is part of the reason I was - TopicsExpress

Kents ethereal shot of cherry blossoms is part of the reason I was thrilled to find a inexpensive Kwanzan cherry tree in the discount corner of Walmart. As I look at this loveliness, I think about the investment in this tree to get the blossoms, and then that the blossoms, so graceful and simple will come and then fall to the ground creating beauty there for a while and then disappear. I am so often tempted to be annoyed by the how ephemeral the beauty is in my garden. Right now I see lily blossoms and 4 blossoms on the Hibiscus and they are so beautiful but they only last ONE day. I want to pull at least another day or even two out of them, but no, I come out the next morning to deadhead them and throw them into the compost. So I settle my soul and let the fact that beauty can be transitory be ok. In the extreme, as much as I dont even want to say it, winter will come and the garden will be white mounds of frozen coldness. And its ok. In fact its good. Letting go is so much of what life is. Ok, well so is hanging on. But the secret to a joyful life is learning what to hang on to and what to let go of. Ok, enough philosophizing, I need to go wander in the garden.
