Kenyataan YB N Surendran Najib & IGP must act on Penang Umnos - TopicsExpress

Kenyataan YB N Surendran Najib & IGP must act on Penang Umnos incitement of rioting & murder I refer to the threat of another May 13 bloodshed by Umno members and elected reps in Penang on 18 January 2013. This action by Umno is dangerous, vicious and a blatantly criminal act. More shocking is that an Umno Member of Parliament Reezal Merican Naina Merican was part of this criminal Umno mob. Is it the policy of Umno to instigate bloodshed and destroy the peace of the country? The crimes they have committed by making this threat include incitement to violence, criminal intimidation( s.503 Penal Code ) and public mischief ( s.505 Penal Code). More seriously, Umno Penang leaders and members have also committed activity detrimental to parliamentary democracy contrary to s.124B Penal Code and liable to imprisonment for up 20 years. Despite the openly criminal nature of the 18/1 Umno mob, the IGP and Penang police chief took no action against against them. No one was arrested and there have have been no statements from the IGP that action will be taken against them despite the incident making national news. This contrasts with the heavy-handed reaction by police against the oppositions peaceful gatherings and flashmobs. The incident also displays Umnos complete intolerance to public criticism. Machang Bubuk rep Lee Khai Loon was merely exercising his right to freedom of expression under Article 10 of the Federal Constitution when he carried out the kangkung protest against Najib. There was nothing wrong or inappropriate with Lee Khai Loons flashmob protest; such protests are the norm in any democratic society. The Prime Minister is not above criticism and the Federal Constitution guarantees this right to dissent and criticism. With increasing loss of support and public anger over price increases, a desperate Umno is trying to create North Korean-style personality politics by prohibiting criticism of the Umno President. With its intolerance and abuse of power, Umno has become a major public menace and a threat to the rakyats well-being We call upon Najib to break his silence and condemn Penang Umno for its criminal acts on 18 January 2013; Umno must take stern action against its members including the Kepala Batas MP. We call upon the IGP to immediately arrest and bring charges against those involved in the criminal 18/1 incitement to murder and rioting. Issued by, N SURENDRAN VICE-PRESIDENT, KEADILAN MP PADANG SERAI 19 January 2013
