Kenya’s famous Masai Mara reserve has led to a contribution of Sh100 billion tourism sector for years but it is facing the effects of a difference between the expansion of tourism and constant natural ruin. Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park located within the same environment has better management rules and it is experiencing an increase in the number of animals. The reason for the effects in Masai Mara has been the increasing of tourist lodges and camps which have chased away wildlife like lion, rhino, and elephants that are sensitive to human activities to Serengeti in Tanzania. Kenya is almost losing the annual migration of wildebeest which is the major famous tourist attraction. The Tanzanians that stay near the Serengeti Reserve have set the area on fire therefore delaying the crossing of the wildlife from Serengeti plains into Kenya. Researchers have said that the increasing human activities on the Kenyan side of the Serengeti environment will stop the animals from crossing over in the future during the annual migration and this has been seen when they spent only three weeks in Mara instead of the three months before heading back to Tanzania. The wildebeests always travel in groups and a single car or a group of people can interrupt the whole herd causing them to change their path of movement. So the huge buildings will affect them highly. I urge the Narok county council to work on this matter before it adversely affects this Gods given paradise to us and if they are defeated to manage it let them hand it over to the Kenya Wildlife Service for better management.
