Kerry’s Live Register has seen a fifth consecutive monthly drop since the beginning of the year. Figures from the Central Statistics Office show in May there were 13,576 people signing on in the county, a drop of 522 on the April figure of 14,098 and a drop of 1550 since January. Last month’s Live Register figure for Kerry is almost 9% lower than May 2013 and 3.7% lower than April 2014. Tralee is the only area to see a monthly increase in the numbers signing on, the total in May increased by 20 to 5848. Killarney saw the largest monthly drop of 214 to 2183, while Dingle’s monthly figure fell by 111. Caherciveen saw the smallest monthly decrease of 3 to 571, while the figures in Listowel fell just 6 to 2741. The Kenmare office saw a reduction of 94 in its Live Register figures in May to 481, while the numbers signing on in Killorglin decreased by 64 to 1075.(Radio Kerry)
