Kettlebell Class second night in Blooming Prairie: mid-day received the following text:(keep in mind that sore is not the same as pain) Just an FYI...I am getting more sore as the day goes on...the workout worked!!! :) See ya tonight!!!). Moments before we are going to begin the 2nd night of KB class one young woman(that never misses a step in Bokwa nor Zumba) comes through the door with the perfect intent of addressing me immediately, You liar! Then laughter and more laughter from all of us. You see, I told them that they would probably be feeling the effects of the 1st night of class by the 3rd night after and for sure by the 4th night....likely looking for the handicap stall where they work to use the bars to help them down....and then up again when done with their business. lol Guess that happened a bit sooner. I have been there and done that....and really wish someone would have warned me! As an instructor and personal trainer, I never expect my class members/clients to do something I havent done or been through. I really got a treat out of just waiting after reading the previous nights post, ...Of course, we were just learning the moves and proper form; Im sure once we do it for 10 min, it will be a great workout for me.... I grinned widely and just nodded with a decision to just wait it out for the 2nd day and see how things were going then. Sure enough Id say that 100% response was pretty similar. I really busted a gut laughing when another member, whom Ive had in other classes, came walking through the door with a look at me like, Im not talking to you and just am glad I can get to the class room door. I DID say in previously posts we have a fun group of people. So when I offer to you that I was laughing, they get it and laughed along with me as the night went on....all the way to the near end when they were thankful that the class was done for the night (week?) Kettlebell training/fitness is functional training. Briefly - everyday movements purposely put into a training design to strengthen areas that need it....to help you perform lifes daily tasks that utilize the same or similar muscle...more effectively. Some remember their first Zumba class resulting in being stiff the next day. 8 classes later...they are sweating but their recovery was faster. 2 sessions later - what stiffness? Having your very first kettlebell fitness training one night followed by the next night being your second has pros and cons. But the cons are actually good cons. One of todays messages, Stairs are fun this morning! :D Im sure there were verbal messages spoken into the wind towards me today like, Dang you! (I choose to believe they are all on the nice & sweet side.) Thing is - I know with no doubt whatsoever that nearly every one in the class is going to end up loving Kettlebell training, if they dont already. Its like no other training you have ever had and the benefits, plus results, are also like no other you will ever have.....I love teaching kettlebell. I already have members at my Owatonna studio that have progressed to an intermediate level -they are so on tract for really getting into harder routines-determined and focused every time I work with them. Now more members are starting on their journey with the newest KB classes; Waseca definitely has interest in kettlebell(they start Friday night) and Blooming Prairie classes are going to continue going strong with another session in January. This post is intended to encourage you to consider the wonderful benefits of functional training with kettlebells (can not be learned with just a retail DVD). p.s. Wait until you get to experience Core Boot Camp! I believe Ive heard the comment, Holy Crap, thats a harder workout then I thought itd be! Owatonna members have completed the class several times, now. A few even continue on to KB. :D Wow - I love my job!!!!
