Kia Ora Whanau, I just wanted to hop in and say a MASSIVE THANK YOU too you all, for all your hard mahi, Aroha, support, Laughter, sense of humor, and of course the sharing of stories..... he he he. AWESOME. To our Kai-mahi, a HUGE thank you for all your mahi in the Kitchen, Wally, Nita, Berta, Koro Bruce, and anyone else that I have missed, Nita your son is AWESOME and one day could be a great Head Chef - Marae Styles - you guys ROCK:) It would be my privilege to work along a side you all again. To the whanau who took care of the Front of the House, Thank you all, from our Whanau Pani - to our Kai Karanga, A big Kia Ora to you all - we all know that if the Front of the house isnt working then the back of the House wont work either ( and vice versa)..... To all the tamariki, WOW... it was so good to see you all playing - without internet, outside getting dirty and all playing nicely with one another..... To those who traveled from a far - a big Kia Ora to you all too, I hope each and everyone of you got home safely. Aunty Dilla , for me it was wonderful to see you up there, enjoying the atmosphere, the whanaungatanga that was happening, we must have done well because I expected you to be in our kitchen alot more than what you were... To Uncle Lance and your whanau, WOW what can I say but a HUGe Thank You, from coming to Auckland to help sort out what was going to happen, to cooking the first kai, and starting the hui-mate process, and supporting the Hui in every way:) to your kids, a BIG Kia Ora Whanau, way kool connecting again, Ngaro your baby is beautiful - I loved my cuddles:) To my sisters, again I say a HUGE Thank you for all your support to me - on all levels, for all of your hard work, from making my bed ( because YES I was UP at the crack of DAWN to do breakfast), to working hard along a side me, and for keeping me going.... It makes it so much easier for me to carry the load when you all are with me, I thank you for supporting our sister Charlene, and I hope you got the closure that we all need. I was proud, that we were a united/tight unit. Shaun and Rhys, you made me cry when I looked up the Hill and saw you both on the end of a shovel, - Uncle Cameron had starting teaching you this process, and now Uncle David has taught you the next part.... I was a proud Aunty. Corey and Emily you both made me cry to the way you guys just got in there, met your cousins and became fast whanau, it was awesome to watch the relationships grow, my hope is that you will have the connections of who you are and where you are from just like we did when we were young and for looking out for the babies:) Another Proud Aunty moment. To Cameron - our Main Hangi cooker within our whanau - again a beautiful Hangi.... Te Ngakau Pouri Edward Whiu had an awesome send off, one that he SHOULD be proud of, to all of his Brothers, Sisters, Neices, Nephews, Friends, know that each and every one of you ALL contributed in some way. I had several unreal moments - and those who know me KNOW what I am talking about... ME having to run the kitchen, being sent to buy FLOWERS? Finding out that BOTH dads favorite song is Kenny Rogers ( my familys national Anthem!!)... OMG..... FUNNY how we all have come to the age where we have to STEP UP now and do this stuff aye!
