Kia Ora whanau, Hope your week is going good so far :) I - TopicsExpress

Kia Ora whanau, Hope your week is going good so far :) I dont have a mobile phone at the moment because it ended up in the laundry with my linen on Saturday, so the past few days have been seemingly quiet and reflective. As a result, Ive been less frequent with my social media activity but at the same time, have been able to appreciate the present things that I would usually be distracted by, and have been able to think and brainstorm on ideas that keep my mind exercised and creative. The small device that I relied on to wake me in the morning, make me feel dependent on in communicating to my loved ones and hold the treasured memories I had in pictures, videos and messages, had SO much power over me. I didnt know that power existed until it stopped existing. It actually feels nice not having a phone at the moment, and whilst Im tempted to get another smartphone device (which I nearly did at lunch time today) really, all I need is an alarm and something to make a phone call with. Texting is a bonus and everything else can be done on my Mac. How does this relate to the video Ive attached? This is Ihaia, another Maori bro/Writer living in WA, Australia promoting our Maori culture and language. This video is pretty powerful and I thought it was pretty big of him to come out like this and let go. Letting go is the kaupapa (topic/subject) of this piece and whist hes done a great job of letting go in 10mins or so, I did my letting go in a long winded and written way with my mahi and website. The unfortunate circumstance of having no phone at the moment has blessed me with realisation without distraction. When I know I NEED a phone, then yeah, Ill get one but until then, Im appreciating the severed ties of developed need that my phone gave me. Its true that when you let go of something toxic, you make room for good things to fill you back up, and when youre ready to take it back on again, or even something similar to it, be it a relationship, another mahi (job) or even a lifestyle/exercise/diet change, youll be that much stronger in your heart, mind and spirit to give it another go. Life is a continual process of learning, and learning is a continual process of life
