Kidney infection update: Urgent care did a great job of making - TopicsExpress

Kidney infection update: Urgent care did a great job of making the diagnosis on Monday, sent me home with instructions to go to the ER if antibiotics didnt do the trick within two days. Still spiking fever and nausea last night, so I dutifully followed instructions and went to Cox South ER. I felt crappy, hate to go to the ER, but Bryan was relieved. Was impressed with everyone at the ER. In spite of the fact that it was very busy that night in ED, I got registered, advised of the length of my wait, which was 3 hours. This does not upset me, because I know that had I come with cardio issues or by ambulance due to trauma, I would have gotten priority. I hated having to listen to the diva on her cell phone as she called everyone on her phone list because her pregnant teen (Medicaid) daughter was having to wait and had nausea. Thats the world we live in. More entertaining was the large black woman holding court in the corner trying to get a black man in a wheelchair to marry him so she would take care of him. The time passes quicker than you think. Finally saw a very smart doctor who took very good care of me. IV bag was hung and after getting 4 items by IV bag (antibiotic, anti-nausea, very nice pain medication, and one other thing). After getting pain meds, they did blood and urine cultures, and sent me off for a CT scan. Sure enough. Kidney stone was descending on the right side. They took a still X-Ray to pinpoint the stone, and called the on duty neprologist, who happens to be the partner of my favorite urologist, Dr. Scanlon. After much consulting they sent me home with prescriptions for pain meds and anti nausea meds. Im supposed to call the urologist in 2-5 days. Im feeling no pain now. Percocet rocks! I dont care if it makes me sleep! Better living through modern chemistry and good doctors.
