Kids arent comfortable with 9 plus 6??? Ridiculous! First of all, the way they have to write it out is WAY more confusing and takes up too much time in the classroom. Second, why do our kids have to feel comfortable? Make them use their brains to get good grades. Learning isnt always comfortable. Third, in my mind that memorized addition facts, the answers to 10 plus 5 and 9 plus 6 come in about the same amount of seconds as the other. And for the record, they say this is supposed to help once the kids are adding hundreds and thousands, but my own kids are just as baffled by it as when they had to use it just for ones.
