Killeen needs 700 volunteers for its sixth annual Feast of Sharing event. The event is hosted through a partnership with the city of Killeen and H-E-B in an ongoing effort to combat hunger by serving holiday meals to local families. Pound Picks - ROS “This event is important because it builds camaraderie and adds to the well-being of our citizens through their volunteer support of an important cause,” said Wilfred Brewster, director of volunteer services. “Many seniors and others in our city are given a free holiday meal and a night of great entertainment for the entire family.” The Feast of Sharing is from 4 to 8 p.m. Dec. 17 at the Killeen Civic and Conference Center, 3601 S. W.S. Young Drive. Brewster said about 5,000 people were fed at last year’s feast, and this year’s goal is 8,000. “It has been said that we make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give,” he said. “Volunteers at this event receive much more in terms of fun, fellowship and well-being as a family when they give their time, resources and talents to the Feast of Sharing.” Volunteers are needed to prepare plates, bring plates to tables, seat guests, serve drinks, cut and serve pie and for cleanup. There are two shifts: 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. or 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Registration is open until Dec. 9. To register, call the Killeen Volunteer Center at 254-501-7878 or go to killeentexas.gov/volunteer. kdhnews/news/volunteers-needed-for-feast-of-sharing/article_d0dabad6-5272-11e3-9dda-0019bb30f31a.html https://facebook/events/568056543288433/
