Kindly pls SHARE... So heres a little story. Throughout my experience as volunteer organising the Sat tutoring event, occasionally families will come forward seeking some sort of assistance from the school. Bear in mind , these people that comes to us usually have exhausted all means , towards a dead end of options before trying to seek help from the school for some sort of hope . To seek help is humiliating to some communities , while people talk, these communities also believe in being dignified enough to sustain themselves despite seeking refuge in a country they are unfamilliar with, cant speak the language and lacking job opportunities to feed their families. While the school itself has too much on their hands with their own challenges and focus on education as a priority. Perhaps my lil story will bring a little insight into the plights of the Afghan community here in Malaysia. Recently 2 mothers came to us seeking some sort of assistance. One, a 33 year old mother of 4 kids aged from 2 mths to 12 yrs old, while the other, a mother 5 children.. the youngest at 8 months old. Apparently these 2 ladies husband have been detained for the last 6 month and having no means of communication. While their sole provider for their families are taken away from them, these 2 mothers find it difficult to sustain nor survive when food is scarce, 2 month late on rent and no source of income to buy milk or any sort but to seek help. The problem here in Malaysia , is that while UN application is underway for refugee status and protection, they are technically considered illegals by some authorities and Malaysias human right record arent much to be proud off either. Therefore to help them out, I would like to make an appeal to all volunteers who would like to assist them out with some groceries, toiletries and clothes. Heres our list during my visit with our interpreter Alex to one of their homes. Details *First mother ( age 33 yrs ) children ( 2mths, 6, 7, 9 & 12 yrs old ) * Second mother ( age 27 ) Children ( 8mths, 4, 6, 7 & 9 yrs old ) *Third mother ( Unknown yet ) 1. Groceries ( rice, flour, sugar potato, carrots oil, eggs, beans , baby milk etc ) 2 . Toiletries ( diapers, shampoo, shower gell, tooth brushes etc ) 3. Furnitures ( beds, matresses, carpets, dining table, chairs ) 4. Electrical ( rice cooker, oven, toaster, more heavy duty equips welcome ) 5. Clothes for the kids, towels etc... 6.If u would like to help them out with their monthly living commitment ( let us know too ) How to sent ? Contact/pm Emery, Mok , Jeannette ( Head teacher ) or myself for arrangement. Or better send it directly to the school when you visit a Tutor Event on a Sat or any days. * On Delivering donations. 017 435 211 9688 ( Emery ) If you can provide your own transportation, that would be great because we have a problem with that. School opens from 9am -2pm , Mon - Fri. *Intepreter Alex an Iranian, who speaks their language is available as direct source to them if you would like to reachout ( 016 259 5169 ) Alex *On bringing their FATHERS BACK . Also, if anyone who knows someone in immigration in regards to refugee status of detention , UN reps or any sorts of help we can get. Pls contact me at 017 333 5556 ( RC ), 012 201 7760 ( Mok ), 012 225 4632 ( Jessica ) to help us find a solution to get their fathers back to their families. *Bear in mind we thought hard about this whether we should extend ourselves beyond educating their child into into an endless cycle of needs with limited resources . But everything falls apart for this people when father is in the lockup, mother has no work and children gets hungry. In seeking permission for some pics as evidence for appeal ,Ive also try my best to blur their identity as they are afraid of humiliation from their community as their children have been taunted recently by other children for needing help from the public. Such is their self dignity as a community which is highly respectable. But we know , as a matter of urgency, they really need the assistance for their children stability & family survival..pride or no pride, a matter of urgency. We definately can do soo much more as Malaysians in making that difference. For now, my story ends here... Kindly PLS SHARE... the story as it needs to be told or... Join us on fb Tutor a Refugee Child for up to date info. Thank you. RCCL , a volunteer.
