King David had a revelation of God’s personality as being full - TopicsExpress

King David had a revelation of God’s personality as being full of pleasure and full of joy. David said so many great things, and this is one of my favorites. Look what David says about the presence of God around the throne of God, “In Your presence is the fullness of joy and at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore” (Psalm 16:11) What a remarkable statement! What He is describing is around the throne of God, as he speaks of the setting of the right hand of God. So this is not just when we have the Holy Spirit’s presence in a meeting and we feel joy. Certainly that is included. But that is not what he is speaking about specifically here. Here is the essence of what David said in Ps. 16:11, “Let me tell you something else about the throne of God. It is the very center of joy for the universe.” The closer you get to the throne, the more intense the joy is. Because God is the fullness of joy. The being of God is the very center of joy. When I talk about joy, I mean a profound sense of well-being in our being, a tremendous sense of confidence and goodness. That is what I mean by joy. Then David took it a next step. He went beyond and said that not only at the throne is this profound sense of well-being and goodness, confidence with absolutely no fear at all, no shame, just clarity and this sense of well-being at the highest degree imaginable, but, “And at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” The greatest pleasure is in the presence of God.
