King Manasseh was King in Jerusalem.....he was twelve years old - TopicsExpress

King Manasseh was King in Jerusalem.....he was twelve years old when started to reign and reigned for 55 years...according to the scriptures he did evil in the sight of the Lord...he had raised altars for the Baals and made wooden images and worshiped the gods of the Assyrians and served them...he had also built altars in the House of the Lord...and set a carved image... idol... which he had made...He sacrificed his sons through the fire...he practiced sooth-saying...he practiced witchcraft......sorcery...he consulted mediums and spiritists....He did much evil in the sight o f the Lord....to the point he provoked Him to anger....King Manasseh was responsible for seducing Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem in participating in doing these evil deeds...sin... The Lord spoke to Manasseh and his people...but they would not listen...they refused to obey...therefore the Lord brought upon them the captains of the army of the King of Assyria... which carried him off to Babylon with a ring in his nose... bronze chains and kept him a prisoner...In his distress Manasseh humbled himself greatly before the God of his father...and prayed to Him...and the Lord moved by his prayer listened to him and brought him back to Jerusalem into his kingdom...Then Manasseh knew that the Lord was God....2 Chronicles 33:1-10 Here we see Manassehs wickedness...his refusal to listen and obey the Lord and His ways as he was taught by his father...because of his disobedience he was brought to a place where he was humbled...crying out to God for mercy and deliverance...He confessed and repented of his sins...God listened and was merciful towards Manasseh...Manasseh than knew that Jehovah was God...able to deliver...He knew Him as a God of salvation...he learned to fear..trust in..love and obey Him...From this time on he bore a new character and walked in newness of life.. In the same way there are many who have been raised in the ways of the Lord...knowing right from wrong...but instead of doing what weve been taught through Gods scriptures we may do as King Manasseh did...which was to disobey and worship other Gods...to seek after answers through other means other than seeking God himself...eventually...if you havent already been ...you will be humbled just as Manasseh was...causing him to repent for his wrongs and sins...you can get it right before it comes to that..and if you are in that stage where He has humbled you...it may not necessarily be a bad place to be...not if it brings you to a place of true repentance...if you cry out as Manasseh did.. God will hear and He will deliver you...and just like Manasseh you will know in whom to put your trust in...In the One true living God...Amen!
