Kingshott Makes History Last night at Collie Speedway Dayne Kingshott did what no other had ever done and claimed his third consecutive win in the Caltex Collie Speedcars Laurie Matthews Memorial. Although Neville Lance has claimed the race six times and Michael... Figliomeni three times, no one else has ever won the race three consecutive times. Kingshott was dominant throughout the feature, with the top three placings not changing once during the final despite all three cars remaining within striking distance the whole time. The first yellows came on after thirteen completed laps when Kaiden Manders spun in turn four. The race resumed but nine laps later Rob Golding spun and bought on the yellows just as Ross Heywood made a fiery exit onto the infield. The race restarted for what would be the final time and once again Kingshott strode away from the rest, going on to claim the win from Glazebrook and Redmond. The night started with Kaiden Manders going upside down in hot laps after a steering component failure. He emerged from the car shaken but unharmed and the car was repaired for later action. Heat one saw Alfonso Guadagnino score a flag to flag win while heat two saw Neville Lance dominate to do the same. Behind him, Shaun Bradford was working the highline until he biked the machine with two to go and went upside down, gaining some incredible height and getting the top of the catch fence in turn two. He too was unharmed but that was the end of his night. Heat three saw Kingshott claim the win while the final heat went to Scott Glazebrook. Although Glazebrook won, all eyes were on Neville Lance as he used his years of experience to expertly make his way through the field using the high and low lines to race into second. The top eight dash event saw Mears dispose of Rob Golding and Chris Telenta before being defeated by Scott Glazebrook. Glazebrook then took on Alfonso Guadagnino and Lee Redmond, winning both and having to face Neville Lance. Unfortunately Lance detonated a motor during the race, with sparks flying and metal being strewn all over the track, ending his run towards a seventh Laurie Matthews win. Dayne Kingshott then came out and defeated Glazebrook in the final Shootout to set up a pole position start for the final. Kingshotts win is the perfect preparation for him in the lead up to this coming weekends to night Western Australian title at the Perth Motorplex. Of course, all the other competitors will be out for revenge and looking to grab a victory. Stay tuned as later in the week we reveal all the nominations! Release by DTN Media. Josh Davies earned the pole position for the feature race but it was Kieran Norman who held off all challengers to win the 12 lap feature. Other drivers to record a win on the night were Michael Comley, Josh Davies and Paul Briggs. Production Sedans started off with a major crash on the entrance to turn one. Dave Ducas spun his car and ended up sitting across the main line into the first turn. Shaun Fitzgerald took evasive action turning his car sideways only to slam into Ducas. Both cars retired from the race with Ducas out for the night. Fitzgerald was able to return in a later heat race but suffered engine damage and failed to complete the last race. Glen Hoskins made his first appearance at Collie for the season and soon made his mark on the racing. Hoskins worked out the best line on the track early and passed cars comfortably on the outside. Hiskins went on to win the feature race. Phil Rose and Jarred Sutton were dominant as well finishing high in the order. Collie driiver Rickie Nuccini has had better nights as he could not achieve the results of previous weeks finishing up with mechanical issues. Jaimie Graham also had engine issues which resulted in two large holes in the side of his engine. Lisa Fitzgerald also retired from the racing with an engine problem. Smarter than Smoking Junior Sedans were light on for numbers but some interesting driving took place. Collie’s Seth Hinsey and Brody Dunn both showed marked iprovement whe challenging Jed Rogers of Bunbury. Rogers managed to win all four races on the night with race two more difficult than he expected as Seth Hinsey led for all bar the last half of the last lap of the race. Jed Rogers is an experience Top Star Junior while Hinsey and Dunn are both New Star Juniors. Shannon Dunn finished fourth in her races while Erin Frazer continues to improve slightly with each race. Solos and Sidecars made an appearnace on Saturday night testing the new solo track. A new light toweer was set up during the week with six large lights illuminating the entire infield of the speedway. Solo riders found the track a little challenging as it is more than twice the size of the track they are accustomed to. Several riders drove too wide on the track carreering off to the outside but were able to rejoin the bike track safely. The riders were not able to race each other due to licensing constraints on the night however the good news is that the Steward of the meeting gave the track a big thumbs up paving the way for the Collie Asssociation to gain a racing permit before the end of the season. The next meeting of the Quit Collie Speedway will feature the AMCA Nationals State Championship with Collie represented by Darren Crowe. The Junior Sedan Racing Association of WA will also bring a round of their country series to Collie on the same night. More than thirty Junior Sedans will be expected to travel to Collie for this big night of racing.
