Services to the relative caregiver can include child care subsidy, respite, family counseling, parenting training, support group referral and a one-time start up bonus (clothing, school supplies, additional furniture, or a deposit on a larger apartment). Eligibility for benefits is determined by the following requirements: a. You are the child’s relative by blood, marriage, or adoption b. You have a stable home environment as observed through a home evaluation c. You pass a criminal check d. The child is at risk of, or has been removed from, his/her home as a result of abuse, neglect, or death of both parents. How do I apply? If your grandchild has been removed from his/her home by the Cabinet, contact the concerned Community Based Services office and speak to a social worker in the Division of Protection and Permanency OR speak to a case worker in the Division of Family Support.
