Kitties have been taken! Seems very, very unfair and cruel. Please Share!!! — (Indiana - DePauw University Campus) — Cats trapped by: facebook/LangmansWildlifePestControl. PLEASE READ ABOUT THIS: From DePauw Campus Cat Allies page: facebook/DePauwAlleyCatAllies 5 HOURS AGO… URGENT: Indy Feral has encouraged us to have everyone contact the trapper, Langmans Wildlife and Pest Control in Terre Haute, IN, and demand that they disclose where they took the DePauw campus cats. Please call (866) 399-1403. You can post an email on their website: langmanswildlife/ or facebook page: facebook/LangmansWildlifePestControl. Note that their facebook page has anti-feral cat posts. facebook/LangmansWildlifePestControl. 9 HOURS AGO… Dear Cat Allies: We have another piece of information to add to this situation with the cats living behind the DZ shelter. We believe the request to remove the shelters came from the local DZ representative after we made inquiries into three cats that were trapped and removed from the area. One of our supporters, when performing maintenance on a shelter there, noticed some live traps set up outside the DZ house. We inquired into whether any cats were trapped, and were informed that 3 were trapped and removed. Heres the context: A plumber doing work on the house requested that they hire someone to trap a raccoon that was in the house before he work on the plumbing. The trapping company trapped three of our cats in the process and removed them to an undisclosed location. While we understand the need to make sure that no animals are in the house (they were entering through a hole in the foundation, from what we understand), it is unacceptable to transport these cats from their home. Furthermore, when we contacted the trapper to locate the cats, the company refused to reveal the location. We have asked that they notify us if any other cats are caught. We are also concerned about any cats trapped overnight in these temperatures, as its unclear whether the trapper monitors the traps overnight. When we contacted the local DZ rep to ask for assistance is getting the trapper to disclose the cats location, she replied with her demand that we remove the shelters this week. (She insisted that the cats were taken to the Sullivan County Shelter, but we have been in contact with the shelter and they have not taken in three trapped cats and have no ferals at their facility at this time.) We are currently working with Indy Feral to resolve this situation. They are connecting us with the legal teams of several national animal welfare organizations to pressure the trapper into disclosing the cats location. We are also working closely with our national partner, Alley Cat Allies, who is conducting legal research as well and advising us. We are doing everything in our power to locate and return these three cats. For now, we ask that you keep your contact with DZ headquarters polite and productive. We feel that will be the most effective route for resolving the situation with the shelters. For the missing cats, were focused on dealing with the trapper and following the advice of these larger organizations for now. We will update you on the efforts, and we will let you know if we need your help in putting pressure on the trapper to comply with our request. Again, thank you for all of your support. DZ National is aware of this trapping situation, and we have requested that one representative not punish the remaining cats simply because we are urgently trying to gain information about the whereabouts of our missing cats. 3 HOURS AGO… Thanks to everyone who has sent Langmans a request to disclose the whereabouts of our campus cats. Please share and keep those requests coming! These cats are loved and cared for, and we want to bring them home immediately. 1 HOUR AGO… Update: Langmans has posted a response to our requests, and still refuses to disclose the location of the cats. They have blocked DCCA and deleted our posts, so I will restate here: They took cats from a maintained feral colony. These cats were neutered, vaccinated, and ear-tipped to indicate they were from a maintained colony. They are fed daily. These are our cats. Langmans says they help people with feral colonies, but thats clearly not the case. As for the Indiana Code he mentions, that is in reference to trapped game animals. Cats are not game animals, they are domestic animals. Please dont stop now, Keep shouting at this company to return our cats!
