Know your Motherland before you lose it: • 1505 Kodava Naadh (Coorg) becomes a Kingdom under the Rule of Local Kodava “Paalegaras” (Nayakas – Governors), Proof: “Kadangas” (Borders) found near Virajpet. • 1627 Kodava Naadh is an official Kingdom ruled by Paleri Lingayatha Rajhas – Proof: Nalnad Palace in Kakkabe near Napok. • 1834 Kodava Naadh is a separate State under the British India, Proof: Coffee was introduced in Coorg by the British, St Annes Church, Virajpet. • 1947 Kodava Naadh is a separate state under Independent India. Proof: Chief Commissioner ruled the State - Dewan Bahadur Ketolira Chengappa – 1947 – 1949. • 1950 Kodava Naadh is a Full-fledged State under Republic of India, with Cheppudira. M. Poonacha as Chief Minister, Congress Party won the Elections with 14 MLAs and Takdi Party (Independent Kodava Party) won 9 MLAs and was in Opposition. Proof: Legislative Hall in Madikeri Fort. • 1956 Kodava Naadh was forced to merge with the Mysore State by sacrificing their own identity by the then Congress Government in Mysore state and Kodava Naadh state. Till today inspite of Coorg being such a small district of Karnataka, it has been neglected, even though Coorg is one of the highest source of Revenue for Karnataka and the only water source of River Kavery for South India. It is neglected from 1956 with zero development; Government always degrades Coorg and doesn’t provide any infrastructure, there are No Good Hospitals, No Good Educational Institutions, No Employment Opportunities, No Good Roads, they provide with developments which are not required like RAIL TO COORG, Building DAMS, and they expect the people of Coorg to be happy and Celebrate “Kannada Rajyotsava” as a great Festival, How can we celebrate your Festival? When our day is full of tears? Today the reason why Coorgs are dividing a separate state is Karnataka! If they provide good development then hope the Coorgs may change their stand!
