Koheleth: I do know that, Bokonon. But it is such a heady game, politics. Somehow it makes me jettison the agenda I had created for myself, to always be an explorer and never a judge. Because playing politics well means establishing a position. It requires bold statements about the state or the world and what the world shall become. It requires beliefs about human nature, about tribalism and racism and freedom and economics and self-actualization and militarism and bribery and a thousand other things. And all of these must be boiled down and frozen into a realist core so you can look your opponent in the eye and say that this number must die, for the greater good of the world.
