Kolten had an Echo yesterday and was seen as well so Dr. Lindblade - TopicsExpress

Kolten had an Echo yesterday and was seen as well so Dr. Lindblade (cardiologist) could do his own assessment on how he is handling this cold. Over all, it went well. Although the artery to the left lung is still narrowing and the conduits gradient (rejection) continues to increase, the progression has slowed a little. This is good but doesnt really change anything and we are still on for the cardiac catheterization on January 22nd at Stanford. Dr. Lindblade informed us that the plan as of now is to try to do just the cath and ballooning or stenting of the left artery and not open him (open heart procedure) for the conduit replacement during the same admission. However, the full open heart procedure to replace the conduit needs to happen soon so we will be heading right back up to Stanford for that very soon. They dont want to try to do the cath and the open heart during the same admission for a number of reasons. Mainly because they feel it would be best for Koltens health and recovery if they space them out a little. They will however view the conduit very closely during the cath and if they do decide it is urgent, they will proceed with doing the conduit replacement during the same visit. Not entirely sure how I feel about this but I know we are never going to be ready for another open heart so when it happens doesnt really matter I guess. Kolten is a fire cracker lately and remains to amaze us that he has any heart problems. At times, I feel like he is busier and more active than healthy babies. Although he lets us know that he doesnt really want to try walking anymore right now, I know he will be running soon. Oh, and climbing mountains because we cant keep this kids off of the top of the furniture. Thank you everyone for your continued support and prayers.
