OK, this was too weird not to share. When new worlds and old worlds meet....Jeffrey and I were running errands and I saw an empty parking space. As I drove towards it, there was this young Asian man standing in-front of my car with headphones on. I honked, he looked at me and turned away. I drove closer to him, into the space and he came up to my car window. He said he was holding the space for a friend of his who was driving to him. It doesnt work that way. I told him. He seemed really angry that were we driving into the open parking space. I past him on the sidewalk twice, going for the parking ticket and coming back with it, and he stood right next to my car, glaring at me. I thought maybe it was a cultural thing, but I said again Thats not how it works. I was afraid that my car would be damaged when I came back, so I looked deeply into his face....when I said Good afternoon. Who the Hell thinks you can stand in a city parking space and hold it for a friend. It bogols my mind. But in this world of Iphones and constant contact, perhaps this is a new thing coming.
