Kumo’s Re-appointment Signals FG’s Commitment To Housing Devt’ Real estate developers in the country have lauded the re-appointment of the managing director of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), Gimba Ya’u Kumo, describing it as a confirmation of the present administration’s commitment to housing delivery. National President of the Real Estate Development Association of Nigeria (REDAN), Chief Olabode Afolayan, wjo spoke on behalf of developers at the inauguration of FMBN board, commended President Goodluck Jonathan for his foresightedness in approving the re-appointment of Kumo, stressing that Kumo had in the last four years succeeded in repositioning the mortgage bank. According to him, the bank under Kumo had witnessed tremendous growth with over 4 million civil servants registering with the National Housing Fund. He said Kumo has reformed the FMBN with the introduction of ICT in the bank’s operations, which had resulted in gross collection of over N2.4 billion from its N700 million monthly collection. While noting that no government in the past had shown such high level of commitment to the housing needs of the populace, he pointed out that the federal government’s zeal and commitment in repositioning the sector for better performance and affordable housing delivery was already yielding positive results. “As stakeholder in the housing sector, REDAN is more than ever ready to contribute its quota to the country’s housing development, bearing in mind the various MoUs it has signed recently with various international financial organisations like the World Bank and Shelter Afrique,” he added. Three other members of the board, Charles Mfe Nyor-Ajiva, Richard John Esin and Kola-Daisi Arinola Morenike were also inaugurated by the housing minister, Mrs. Akon Eyakenyi.
