Kupwara Degree College Road in shambles SHAHID Kupwara, Aug 31: The road leading to Degree College Kupwara in this frontier district is in shambles from the past two years due to which students and staff members are facing immense hardships. Locals told Greater Kashmir Kupwara -Bohipora road a 2-km stretch which connects the Degree College with other areas has not been widened since the day it was constructed. “The distance, which could be covered in just 10 minutes, takes more than an hour. The road is full of potholes. At times, we prefer to travel on foot to reach the college rather than going in a vehicle just to avoid the jerks and jumps. A lot of our precious time is wasted while going to the college and returning to Kupwara due to this dilapidated road,” said Mudasir Ahmad. “Lot of dust emanates from the college road which is proving hazardous for us. We are forced to cover our face, and hair and wear masks,” said Tanveer Ahmad, a student of BSC 3rd year. “Despite many representations to the Executive engineer, Roads and Buildings, Kupwara, nothing has been done to repair this road,” said a local Muhammad Yaseen. Students and locals appealed Mir Saifullah, Minister Law and Parliamentary Affairs who is also the local MLA to intervene and instruct the R&B authorities to macadamize the road on priority basis.
