Kurdish New Year means new day (New = New and Roz = day). Newroz is celebrated among the people in the Middle East as the New Year and Spring Festival 21 March. In this context, the one Newroz in relation to the darkness is replaced by the light that give rise to life-giving natures processes. Man celebrating Newroz by visiting each other and wish each other a good spring party and a Happy New Year. Thus celebrated Newroz with Afghans, Iranian and other peoples of the Middle East. Since this time, the Newroz been an important day for the Kurds, that symbol of freedom. However, todays powers (Turkey, Iran, Iraq and Syria) that has divided the Kurds among them, have for many years tried to remove the meaning of Newroz from Kurds consciousness. In Turkey tried rulers to ban Newroz, but despite all their interventions, they could not prevent the Kurds to gather and celebrate the day by partying and tell their desire for freedom. Since the ban failed in power, they began even arrange Nevruz, as a spring celebration. But this came Kurds meaningless, because, first, they had changed Newroz to Nevruz and not had to spell it as Newroz, but as Nevruz. Second alleged the Turkish government suddenly that Nevruz was part of the Turkish culture, but the Turkish population knew nothing of it. The most important for Kurds was that they were aware of what those in power had in mind, namely to separate Kurds from their struggle for freedom. This option is still dominant in the Turkish government and has caused hundreds of human lives from the 1990s to today.. - Moy Adam Aso
