Kwara schools not ready to resume -NUT The Chairman of Nigeria Union of Teachers in Kwara state, Comrade Musa Abubakar, has said teachers in the state will not resume on Monday. In a telephone interview with our correspondent on Sunday, he stated that the government had not made enough provisions to protect teachers, students and pupils from contracting the Ebola Viral Disease. The state Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Saka Onimago, had directed all schools to resume on Monday. He had also directed schools in the state to provide basic hygiene materials like washing bowls, soap and towels. But Musa said government had not made adequate measures for the schools to resume. He said the union’s appeal to government to use qualified health personnel to train teachers to forestall the outbreak of EVD had not been heeded. He added that the government had not provided hand sanitisers and infra-red thermometers as the teachers demanded. He said, “We have even gone on air to announce that we will not resume on Monday. “Stakeholders should focus more on preventive measures so that there would be no epidemic in our state. Teachers shall not resume until all these provisions are made in our schools.”
