LA TORRE DI PISA - Cenni storici Non è un caso che il terreno su cui sorge la Torre più bella e famosa del mondo si chiama Piazza dei Miracoli. Considerato le dimensioni di questo Monumento , simbolo della città di Pisa, è un miracolo della statica con una pendenza di 8,26 gradi rispetto alla verticale. Quando nel 1173 inizio la costruzione, le fondamenta erano profonde 3,5 metri ed i lavori del 3° piano dovettero essere interrotti a causa del cedimento del terreno che ebbe come conseguenza linclinazione sul lato Sud. Fù terminata nel 1350 grazie a Andrea Pisano ed alla costruzione della cella campanaria che ha 7 campane dai nomi come Vespuccio e Pasquereccia. La scala a chiocciola con 293 scalini conduce ai vari piani, alla cella campanaria e dalla cima da cui si gode una spettacolare vista, Galileo Galilei compi i suoi esperimenti sulla gravità.
