LAKE ELSINORE: Man suspected of multiple armed robberies arrested KYLE LUNDBERG / STAFF WRITER A man who police believed committed a series of armed robberies in Lake Elsinore was arrested Friday. A service station was robbed on Thursday, Oct. 16 in the 300 block of N. Main Street, and was robbed again at gunpoint that evening, a Riverside County Sheriffs Department release said. Officers obtained video surveillance of the robbery. On Friday, Oct. 17, a suspect matching the description of the earlier robberies held up a pizza parlor in the 18200 block of Collier Avenue. The man then fled on a motorcycle. On Friday, an officer saw a man on a motorcycle in the area of Collier Avenue and Central Avenue who matched the description of the suspect in the robberies. The man was detained, and police later found several items relating to the robberies in his home, according to the release. Police arrested William Despain, 45, of Lake Elsinore, on suspicion of three counts of armed robbery.
