LAMU LAND TITLE DEED WERE LEGALLY ISSUED, SAYS ORENGO By #BCNCorrespondent Orengo has said the land were not grabbed as declared by the government adding anyone who dissatisfied with the issue to consult the National Land Commission as they were issued legally. He added that he would take legal action against people who are out to tarnish his image with corruption allegation. Orengo who was speaking during a fundraising at Kopiyo Mixed Secondary School said that those being pushed to do investigations on those who were handling Land docket in the previous grand-coalition government will be shocked to find that “our hands are clean over the land deals.” The Siaya Senator’s remarks comes only three days after President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered for revocation of the 500,000 acres titles in Lamu which he claimed were grabbed between April and November 2012 despite a moratorium on public land. Speaking after meeting Lamu leaders led by Governor Issa Timamy on Thursday, the President ordered for revocation of titles and repossession of the land that he said borders the proposed port zone and comprises of more than 70 percent of arable land in the County.
