LAST CHANCE TO SAVE THIS PRECIOUS GIRL!!!! Teegan is a lucky girl; while countless easy dogs havent made it out this holiday season, petrified Teegan is still alive... until later TODAY. This is her third time on the list, so its more than likely that this is her last chance... A volunteer writes: Teegan was brought to our facility by a care center driver, a deeply frightened large dog. For days, she remained growling and plastered to the back of her kennel. Fear, fear and fear was the name of the game. Teegan needed to be appeased, reassured. She looked skin and bones under a shiny and magnificent ebony coat. Treats, treats and more treats (left at first in the front of Teegans den then, directly in her mouth through the door) were the key to Teegans heart. Teegan has gorgeous white teeth that are well displayed when she takes dry liver from my fingers. Encouraging words of course coaxed her progresses and got her used to those who wanted to get to know her. Yesterday was the day. She made her exit from her kennel and her entry into the yard. Skittish, she was pulling on the leash, jumping at sudden noises or abrupt moves. What a beautiful dog she is. Her elegance is accentuated by her poor nutritional status. She literally pranced on the leash and leaped in the air to catch liver treats thrown at her. She sought food big time and everywhere. Very little is known about Teegan. She would be wary of strangers but friendly to her family members and other pets. She would not be house trained. Teegan was even better today. She came to her door as she saw me. I gave her a treat of course. I did not have difficulties to leash her although the day before, she had to be expertly lassoed. She was still skittish and a fast walker but sitting on command and taking treats eagerly from my hand. No need to throw them anymore. I sat on the bench and I petted carefully her head, treats at hand of course. She has such a gorgeous face! Teegan looks like she is going to be a winner. She is overcoming her fears, making contact with us, allowing us to get to know her. I wonder what Teegan was really like in her former home. I imagine she has issues, trust, some guarding; who knows as we really do not know her. Teegan is a project. She certainly won my heart today. I hope she will win yours. Teegan is at the Manhattan Care Center.
