LAST DAY OF SCHOOL EVE... hard to believe that tomorrow is the last day of school - our 2nd grader becomes a 3rd grader and our 4th grader becomes a 5th grader - which at the girls school is considered MIDDLE SCHOOL - complete with multiple teachers and a LOCKER. I am sitting in the room in our house that we refer to as the playroom. Both of the girls bedrooms open up into this room. I am typing this from Olivias computer. Those of you that have been in our home the last decade know this room - and know of its evolution. Originally with baby bumpers, bouncy swings, big blocks, stuffed animals, a complete PINK kitchen set... This room has grown and evolved with the girls. Now it has two desks side by side with iMacs, bulletin board, a bookshelf with thick chapter books and the Harry Potter series, an armoire with a TV and Wii. Two armchairs that were once the NURSERY rockers have been repurposed... their runners removed, their bright pink prints covered with a more neutral twill. The real only hold over is a GIANT ruler on the wall that has marked the girls growth over the years. As I sit here I can hear the girls breathing as they sleep (Vivi is a mouth breather). I am sorting thru the school work they have brought home the last couple of days as the classrooms are hurriedly emptied and cleaned... I look over their work - the math, social studies, the art... Viviennes incredible cursive - which I fear is a dying art... Olivias bound story book and draft of the argument for her mock trial. Theyve learned so much... and they are both really great students who enjoy school. I dont mind sharing with you that this is a bittersweet milestone annually. They are growing up so quickly, yet I am excited for what is next for them. We are so fortunate and I am so proud - honored really - to be the Papa of these two individually amazing people. Fortunate to have a partner in Bill to share in the joy and perils of parenting : ) #papalove #slowdownyoumovetofast
