LAY ASIDE EVERY WEIGHT (Hebrews 12: 1 – 3) BY: TESCO MOTIVATIONS In our discussion today we are going to look at how to attain academic success as the athlete would see it. One of the key principles an athlete has about success is it understanding of the word “weight”. You never see an athlete take for example an athlete running carrying a weight with him. In the same way as student attaining academic excellence involve you laying down any kind of weight that can be a barrier to your success. Weight is anything that can resist the effort you put into your academics (at time it may have the ability to bring your effort to zero or cause your effort to yield you just little result). An important issue about weight is not just in what it can cause but also in the direction it acts. Weight is always downwards that’s to tell you taking any form of weight with you can bring you from your present state to a downward state. In light of this discussion I would like to enlighten you on some principles to handle weights and be able to excel in your academic studies. As a student the first thing you should have in mind while on your journey to excellence is the fact that many people are looking up to you. You can afford to disappoint them. Your family, friends and even the place you are from. Every one of them expects you to come out successful. And so as a guide you need to carry with you these principles discuss below to run the race effectively: Lay Aside Your Weakness: weight can be view as a weakness. The reason why so many students have had to battle with succeeding is simply because they ignore their weaknesses. Try to run attain excellence with their weakness pulling them down. The first thing is to lay down your weakness only then can you run with much speed toward success. Lay Aside Your Excuses: weight again can be view from a perspective of the excuses we give. Most of us only see reason why we can’t get things done. Honestly you won’t get far with that attitude. You must begin to see why you need to win and succeed. Lay Aside What Takes Your Interest: passion is a drive to succeeding and every time it is absent your journey never have a destination. There is no essence for a journey without a destination. Your passion is what keep you going when you don’t feel like moving ahead anymore, it’s what helps you to hang on in times of difficulties, what is now the essence of going ahead when you lose sight of you interest? Let your interest be alive. Lay Aside What Takes God Out: God is indispensible to our survival as we journey to success. He has the road map to what we are looking for. He knows what’s ahead of us and so we can’t do without Him because: He’s our source He’s our sustainer He’s our savoir He’s with the solution to what we need Lay Aside What Is Not Helpful: everything is lawful but not everything is helpful. Let go of what will cling failure to you. Our journey always attracts different things, people and activities but we must be careful to choose what will help us. Lay Aside What Takes Your Time: one important thing in the mind of every athlete is the idea that their journey is timed. In the way, our journey as students is timed (4 or 5 years). We need to maximize our time as we run along avoiding time wasters. How to Run the Race to the End: Run with Perseverance Look unto Jesus
