LEAGUE CITY, TX (KTRK) -- League City police are investigating a womans death and they say her husband is now facing charges. At 2pm, League City Police received a phone call for an unknown circumstance. Police say an off-duty officer called them because his neighbor told him there was something wrong with his wife. He was approached by a Hispanic male saying there was something wrong with his wife, said League City Police Officer Reagan Pena. When police arrived at the home in the 800 block of Driftwood in the Pecan Forest subdivision, they found Katrina Gonzales, 32, dead inside the house. Her husband, Felipe Alberto Fernandez, 48, has been charged with her murder. Neighbor John Dailey says he asked his neighbor, whos a cop, what was going on, and the off-duty officer told him everything. He said the husband and wife got into an argument and theyre not actually married, just common law, Dailey said. He came home, they got into an argument. He just dont even want to go through the divorce. He went home, got a hammer, beat his wifes head in with a hammer. then he ran to my neighbors house, who is an an officer, and told him. When officers arrived, Gonzales was dead and Fernandez was incoherent. After an official interview, he was named a suspect and then charged with murder Officer Pena said, We werent able to get much information from this man. Surprised neighbors say the couple even used to run a day care out of their home. Bond for Fernandez has been set at $150,000. The police investigation is continuing.
