LED Grow Lights - Grow Stealth LED Quantum LED Grow Light LED Technology LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) were first discovered in 1927. Several decades later experimenters began developing the technology into what it is today, creating the first red LED in 1962. By 1972 scientists had increased the efficiency of these red LEDs by 10x, at which point they became a practical technology for commercial applications. The first LEDs to be used commercially replaced incandescent and neon indicator lamps, as they still lacked the output necessary to illuminate an area. As time progressed and LED materials became more advanced, output increased to a level that could be used for illumination and the age of LED was born. Since the 1960s efficiency and light output of LEDs have increased exponentially, doubling every 36 months similar to Moores Law. This trend is now known as Haitzs law, which continues on to this day. LED Grow Lights LED Grow Lights are made of multiple, low-wattage (1W-5W) LEDs, of varying color outputs and ratios. LED Grow Lights began emerging onto the mainstream market from 2005-2007, and due to Haitzs law produced about 2-4x less lumens compared to todays LED Grow Lights. This is important to note as many of the first LED Grow Lights promised amazing results, yet failed to deliver on that promise, and as a result it built up negative imagery towards the LED Grow Light industry. What most consumers do not realize however, is that todays LED Grow Lights are much more powerful than the original lights they may have tried 3-4 years ago. Likewise LED Grow Lights still continue to double in output every 3 years, meaning the technology will only improve with time. LEDs differ in this way from other grow lights such as HID, which have remained at the same lumen per watt output levels for decades. LED Grow Lights and Plants Plants convert light energy into chemical energy in a process known as photsynthesis. Two compounds, Chlorophyll A & B, are primarily responsible for this conversion process. These compounds absorb blue and red light most efficiently, and have the highest conversion rates at 439nm, 469nm, 642nm, and 670nm. Unlike conventional grow lights, LEDs produce very narrow wavelengths of light that can be fine-tuned to match these photosynthesis conversion points. As a result, up to 100% of the light emitted from a LED Grow Light can be used by plants during photosynthesis, unlike a HID Grow Light where approximately 30% of the light is absorbed. LED Grow Lights also operate hundreds of degrees less than HIDs, reducing stress in your plants and increasing overall success rates. Quantum LED Grow Lights Quantum LED Grow Lights focus on a whole new plant science separate from photosynthesis called Quantum Efficiency, which focuses on the number of photons required for the formation of one oxygen molecule in photosynthesis (a byproduct of CO2, Water, and Light). Scientists have long believed that plants absorb little to no light in the 500-600nm region of PAR, however new research proves that light in this region plays a vital role in growth times, yield, and photosynthetic efficiency. Research published by NASA verifies that when all 3 regions of PAR are balanced properly (400-500nm, 500-600nm, & 600-700nm), flowering times and yields can be dramatically altered. In one in-depth study featuring tomatoes, scientists were able to reduce the entire growth cycle from 130 days to 100 days, with a subsequent increase in yields of 30%! This is very important for any commercial grower, as it gives them the ability to produce higher yields in less time, when using a properly balanced LED Grow Light. Grow Stealth LED Grow Stealth LED is the only company in the world to focus on the quantum efficiency of plants, and balance their lights on the quantum level. Grow Stealth LED Grow Lights are the first in the world to include green as a primary wavelength of their spectrum. As a result Quantum LED Grow Lights increase growth times up to 25%, and increase yields up to 30% compared to other LED Grow Lights. Grow Stealths Pro-Bloom option brings flowering into the supercharged phase, allowing an additional 30% increase in photosynthetic rates, and a major increase in resin production for Cannabis plants. Each Quantum LED Grow Light is built with true 3W LEDs, with the focused intensity of 90 degree lenses. Their 600W LED Grow Light draws a true 550W of power, replaces a 1000W HPS, and costs only $ 1199 with a 2-year warranty.
