LET US ASK A DISCIPLE! DISCIPLE NUMBER 2 DISCIPLESHIP WITH BRO. ANDREW THE SEEKER! Bro. Christiantoday: Good morning brother Andrew. I just had a chat with your brother Peter. Andrew: Good morning- oh Peter already called me and informed me you will be coming. Good to meet you! Bro. Christiantoday: Peter said you were actually the first person who came in contact with Jesus Christ? Andrew: I have heard of the divine interventions and interruptions in the history of Israel. And since the stories were beginning to get Old, I eagerly searched for when God will again show up in the history of our nation- Israel. So when I heard of Prophet John in the wilderness of Judea, I had to go check Him out. Bro. Christiantoday: So John was the attraction? Andrew: I do not know what you mean by attraction. John wasnt much of an attraction as you may think. I know atleast three things about Him that was unattractive: 1. His outlook was described in Matthew 3:4; And the same John had his raiment of camels hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey. That wont be good enough for TV Evangelist as you are familiar with. 2. His message was fiery and a bit confrontational- he called the political leader a LAW BREAKER( Matt. 14:4) and that will be like saying the President is ungodly. Also the day we had many people at the open air crusade, the prophet called them brood of vipers. That isnt attractive. 3. His ministry seems INFERIOR to what is expected- John 10:40 reveals- No miracles happened after his messages and also he came baptising with water and he confessed- His water baptism wasnt the real thing because One is coming that will baptise with fire(John 1:26). With all these...I am not sure it was an attractive ministry. Imagine Jesus said Johns life was labelled DEMON POSSESSED.Luke 7:33;For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a devil. SO attractive wasnt the reason or the right word. Bro. Christiantoday: But in my time people will flood churches with enough SWAG and charisma. You need to have those things to be acceptable to modern churches, so what led you to John and then to Jesus Christ? Andrew: It was the pursuit of TRUTH alone. Truth that the Old testament testified about and I saw fulfilled in my time through John the Baptist. I never cared about the fashion sense, just the faith sense. I never cared about the charisma, I only cared about the cross. I did not care about the social popularity, I only wanted the spiritual connection. So when John began talking about Jesus Christ as the lamb of God, I think it was myself and John the beloved that went out to seek Jesus. Bro. Christiantoday: How did meeting Jesus feel like? Andrew: We asked about where Jesus lived and He took us to His home. We spent the night with Him and by morning I was convinced, he was the messiah. A moment spent with the truth sets your heart ablaze. Bro. Christiantoday: I do try to spend time with Jesus too and I sing, dance and speak in tongues. Andrew: That is good but sometimes a disciple needs to shut up and listen to His words until His heart is set on fire. True fellowship with Jesus Christ dont swell our heads but burns our heart. Bro. Christiantoday: So that made you become a disciple? Andrew: I called my brother Peter and after a while I had to return to our business but the Master Himself came to search for us and made us His disciples. Peter was always concerned about the people we left at home and he needed more conviction to be persuaded. Bro. Christiantoday: Persuaded? Andrew: Yes...Jesus taught us that principle. Yes He comes looking for us but His words and our encounters with Him persuades us until we are convinced by the truth alone. That is the reason, we could not go back to the World. Paul shared this too when he said; But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation...(Heb. 6:9). There is a place of the truth persuading us...check everywhere in the Bible that word is used...you will see it is divine. Bro. Christiantoday: I think I need to be persuaded until I am convinced concerning many issues in my life. Thanks brother. Andrew: Be persuaded by His word alone and not what anybody offers. That is true with all the disciples I know. Thanks for coming. Hope you will speak with Philip too? Bro. Christiantoday: Yes I will. I am persuaded to learn. Shalom!
