LET YOUR HORSE THINK HIGHLY OF HIMSELF One of my biggest - TopicsExpress

LET YOUR HORSE THINK HIGHLY OF HIMSELF One of my biggest inspirations is General LHotte. What stroke me most while going through his books was that LHotte was riding all his horses for 2 years only at walk. After the time of a careful and slow preparation, LHotte could proudly ask any of his students to mount the horse. To the students surprise the horse was perfectly prepared up to Grand Prix movements in all three gaits. Today we call it generalization ;) The animal psychology and behaviourism are well developed. If short-term memory slots are filled with emotions - the learning process is blocked. It can be anything from fear, pain, discomfort or insecurity due to lack of balance, not understanding the criteria, fear of being punished, to being alone in the riding arena. If your horses stressed, he is not learning. Below you can see me riding our 3yo Chicos Boy son. We worked with him for a year from the ground, and now he is being ridden only like once or twice a month. He understood cognitively all cues and signals, and he feels totally safe being asked to perform the exercises. Hes actually growing bigger and prouder each time he can perform them. WHY? BECAUSE I MADE HIM BELIEVE HE IS A CHAMPION :) Hes not (yet), but I didnt ever let him sense it. Its the most important thing - to build up the soul of your horse. Right from the very start your horse has to feel he is a Champion. Even being a 3yo regular horse, HE HAS TO BELIEVE hes an Olimpic Gold Medal winner. You have to build him to think so highly of himself, its your responsibility :) pics by Pola Gałczyńska FotoGrafia, thank you Pola Gałczyńska
