LETS TAKE PRACTICAL ACTION IN EVERY SCHOOL COMMUNITY TO IMPROVE ANA RESULTS IN 2015 Given the results of the 2014 Annual National Assessments, especially grade 9 mathematics, I want to propose that we start a campaign where each school principal and SGB (with support of the RCL (SRC) in high schools) convene a meeting with parents and broader school community in early 2015 to report on the 2014 ANA results and then engage in a discussion about what can be done by all roleplayers to improve the results in 2015. Each school community should then set a target for grade 3, 6 and 9 and support the programme of action developed by principal and sgb to reach those targets. This could include practical steps such as : * supporting teachers to do Advanced Certificates in Mathematics Education * organising extra classes in afternoons and over weekends * getting parents.care givers to take an interest in supporting learners doing homework - provide practical guidelines for homework supervision * get each class involved so that learners themselves set targets * hear from teachers what will help them * get a local business to support each school with additional learning and teaching support material * have a build -up programme before writing 2015 ANAs It can be done ! ONE SCHOOL, ONE SCHOOL COMMUNITY MEETING IN EARLY 2015 TO SET 2015 ANA TARGETS !
