LETTER TO ANDY BURNHAM MP FOR LEIGH 26th August 2014 Dear Mr - TopicsExpress

LETTER TO ANDY BURNHAM MP FOR LEIGH 26th August 2014 Dear Mr Burnham, I write to you as a matter of urgency representing the request of members of the North-West of England community regarding a specific issue arising from the possibility of fracking going ahead in your constituency, and neighbouring constituencies As you will be aware there are many highly questionable aspects of the fracking process and one in particular is raising huge concern amongst local people Many of the potential fracking sites are located within the ancient coalfields of old Lancashire, we all live above countless thousands of miles of mine workings dating back some 300 years We are well aware of mine subsidence in this area, the Wigan Flashes and Astley being the obvious examples, and I have many friends on The Fylde who were personally affected when Cuadrilla exploratory drilling in 2011 caused damage to property and businesses Our request is that you write to the Geological Society in order to secure their confirmation that no activities during the fracking process will directly or indirectly lead to a catastrophic mine subsidence We would really appreciate it if you could pursue this avenue on our behalf as, apart from Barbara Keeley, we have received zero political support from the Labour Party in what is becoming a bitter struggle against vast and overwhelming odds in the protection of our families and loved ones #LancashireCountyRegulators
