LETTER TO THE PRESS AND PRESIDENT OF GHANA. Assalaamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu. In the words of the late Martin Luther King Jnr to ignore evil is to become an accomplice to it. Is very true the grass may look greener on the other side, but when you get there you will find that grass is grass. Is so pathetic for leaders of this democratic country who believe in freedom of worship to turn death ears and blind eyes to the abuse of our right as Muslims. Only Allah knows the number of Muslim Students in the SHS who are contemplating on converting to become Christians. Have we ever wondered what the state of the Muslim students will be in ten (10) years to come if we still keep our tears to ourselves as Muslim. Mr. President, I Habib Tanko Abd. Razak believes that we as Muslim Student Leaders have a voice. We should take a vehement exception to these justifications because they have been used as fertile grounds to convert Muslim students to Christianity against their wish which is a breach of the constitution of the Republic of Ghana and also against the provision in the Ghana Education Act. Our Muslim brothers and sisters are being denied of the right to pray on campuses, especially in the boarding schools coupled with being forced to attend church services. This is what I Habib Tanko Abd. Razak call Human Right Violation The Leadership of GMSA , and other Muslim Associations had petitioned the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service, CHRAJ and the government on several occasions but to no avail. Mr. President, the use of coercion by authorities of schools over the years to shove their religious faith down to the throats of Muslim students is alien to any democratic society. Where lies the power of the provision in the Ghana Constitution which talk about freedom of worship and to manifest such practices. Mr President, with respect, I strongly support the opinion of us getting audio visual evidence to support our case but my worry is how long can we wait for these evidence? . Again, these S.H.S students who are to give us such evidence are not allowed to use phones in their various schools, this believe will slow down the evidence we need. The case of Adisadel College is enough evidence. The Victim went scotfree. The case of Fatimatu Uthman that happened in Takoradi when she was in Hijab to write Nov/dec is enough evidence. Our Leaders ( both Muslims and Christians) are much aware if this Human Right Violation because majority witnessed that when they where in S.H.S. Mr. President, we waiting for only audio visual I believe will slow down our fight for religious freedom because things are clear to us now that our rights are being abused. What worries me the most is the silence of the office of the National Chief Imaam on this issue, the silence of the Council of Muslim Imaams, the silence of the Muslim Caucus in Parliament, the Silent of the National Peace Council, the silence of our Muslim Parents just to mention few. Mr President, Delay defeats Equity. My suggestion is in the words LETS ACT NOW 1. Lets hold a meeting with the Parents of the Muslims in the SHS. This I belief the Regional Executives can champion so that our parents will be made aware of what is going on and we can solicit for their support. 2. Meeting with the Patrons of the SHS GMSA to get a first hand information of what is happening there if possible they can help with the audio visual evidence. 3. Appeal to our Imaams in our various Masjids to frequently announce the Violation of our rights in their sermons and informing our parent to seek the welfare of their wards they usual dump in the boarding house. 4. Depending on the resolutions of these meetings, draft a final petition to stakeholders concern giving them an ultimatum to address our needs. 5. LETS HIT THE ROAD if the outcome is otherwise. This is not Violent, this I call Demonstration for our right. This I believer can be done in less than 90days. Habib Tanko Abd. Razak. ( CONCERN MUSLIM STUDENT)
