LET’S GET TALKING @ 8:30AM Albert speaks, I am a 20 year old student of Kwame Nkurumah University and I am in my first year. I have a 26 old elder brother who joined the Ghana Police service recently and so he together with my Dad are the ones supporting my education and that of my junior brother who is now in SSS. Our mother died last year and since our father is not earning much, I have to work for some time after my SSS education to raise enough funds to enable me enrol in the university. Recently my senior brother made known to me his intentions of getting married because he thinks he is ageing. His gross earning is Gh1.000.00 but he has secured a loan of Gh7.000, paid her girlfriend’s fees costing Gh1.500.00 and has secured another housing loan so now his disposable income at the end of the month is GH450. Now he finds it difficult to assist me financially because of his marriage plans which I am not in support of since no one is giving him the pressure of getting married. I believe he is making a wrong decision which will eventually screw my education and that of my junior brother. I am in support of him getting married but all I am saying is that he should postpone it for 2 more years to enable him assist me financially with my education after which he can go ahead with his marriage. Currently I just don’t know how to convince him to reason with me, please advise me on how to handle this issue.
